INNER WORLD OF MIND with Gelek Rimpoche

Understanding mind is key to understanding ourselves and the world we live in. On the basis of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Gehlek Rimpoche will explore the inner workings of our mind, opening the door to the true nature of reality.

ODYSSEY TO FREEDOM TALKS with Jewel Heart Instructors

Gelek Rimpoche created Odyssey to Freedom as an accessible and concise Lam Rim, encompassing the stages on the spiritual path from our current situation, as it is, through to full enlightenment. Offered here as individual evening topics, we invite you to take this opportunity to bring Buddha’s experience into your spiritual path

ART OF LIVING with Kimba Levitt and Janis Paul

We long for meaning, for an effective way to bring insight and heart to the ordinary circumstances and inevitable challenges of our daily lives. On the basis of Gelek Rimpoche’s book, Good Life, Good Death, this course will explore pragmatic methods to bring depth, meaning, and joy to our lives.

LAM RIM III: The Great Scope with Supa Corner and John Madison

Lam Rim, spiritual practice according to the tradition of Je Tsong Khapa, traverses the entire path to enlightenment. Offered as Lam Rim I, II, and III, Lam Rim III presents the great scope of spiritual development – total enlightenment for the sake of all through reliable methods. This in-depth course follows Lam Rim I and II.

THE HEALING PRACTICE OF WHITE TARA with Jenna Wunder

Tara is the mother goddess of Tibetan Buddhism, known for her quick and compassionate activity. She is particularly associated with healing and long life. This course uses visualization techniques relying on the feminine energy of White Tara to overcome physical, mental and emotional suffering.

DHARMA DISCUSSION AND DEBATE

Drawing on the traditional Tibetan Buddhist mode of learning through open debate, Jewel Heart students are invited to join groups of two to five participants to analytically challenge and deepen their relationship with the Dharma. Join us for pizza and discussion!

Join Jewel Heart Instructors and Gelek Rimpoche for a taste of Buddhism through introductory talks on contemporary issues followed by tea and cookies. We invite you to participate in concentrated meditation session and/or White Tara meditational practice sessions as well. Open to all. Free/Donations welcome.

Spirituality involves reducing our negativity and developing our positivity by training and changing our mind.

January 20 – The Treasure of Mindfulness with Sandy Finkel
When we take time and focus closely on our daily thoughts, feelings and activities we find that there is much to learn just by observing ourselves quietly, without judgment.

January 27 – Doorway to Satisfaction with Eric Devos
Our unfulfilled longings and dissatisfaction with the superficial things of life mask our deeper desire for ultimate freedom from suffering.

February 3 - Born to Be Free with Tony King
By recognizing our self-imposed limitations we can begin to connect with the unlimited potential of our mind.

March 2 – The Selfless Self with Hartmut Sagolla
Exploring the distinction between a naturally present self and an exaggerated solid self points toward the source of all our difficulties in life.

March 9 – Living Enthusiastically with Kathy Laritz
With enthusiasm we are released from the lethargy of discouragement, the disorientation of confusion, and the resistance of laziness. With courage, endurance, and delight, we can achieve all our goals.

March 16 – Karma and Interdependence with Gelek Rimpoche
An investigation into karma's four properties raises awareness of personal responsibility and how truly interconnected we are.

March 23 – A Policy of Kindness with Supa Corner
In today's world of competition and animosity, the need to cultivate basic respect and kind understanding is imperative.

March 30 – Achieving Self-Confidence with Kimba Levitt
A balanced analysis of our capacities and limitations lays confident ground to realize our goals.

April 6 – Welcoming Change with Kathleen Ivanoff
Change is inevitable. By welcoming change, new doors open as old ones close.

April 27 – Engaging Wisdom and Compassion with Gelek Rimpoche
Following the teachings on wisdom and compassion recently given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Gelek Rimpoche will elaborate how we can apply these teachings to our daily lives. This talk will be helpful for both those would did and did not attend His Holiness’ teachings.
