OMYOGA Weekend in March 2009

THE SWIFT PATH with GELEK RIMPOCHE

The Swift Path, or Nyur Lam in Tibetan, was composed by the 3rd Panchen Lama and succinctly lays the ground for spiritual development through clear and relevant topics for visualization and analytical meditations.

Gelek Rimpoche is the Founder and Spiritual Director of Jewel Heart. Among the last generation of incarnate lamas tutored by the great masters in Old Tibet, Rimpoche’s command of contemporary western culture allows him to convey the Tibetan Buddhist tradition with wisdom, kindness and wit.

GATEWAY TO THE SPIRITUAL PATH

The main focus of this course is developing a reliable spiritual foundation. Gelek Rimpoche’s transcript, Gateway to the Spiritual Path serves as the basis and is available through the Jewel Heart Store.

DEEPENING AWARENESS: THE PRACTICE OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

Becoming more aware of our thoughts, feelings and sensations through meditation opens the door to understanding the nature of our mind and how it creates our experience. Recommended pre-requisite: Creating Space: Clarity and Insight through Meditation.

Odyssey to Freedom – Section 1 & 2

Gelek Rimpoche created Odyssey to Freedom as an accessible and concise Lam Rim, encompassing the stages on the spiritual path from our current situation, as it is, through to full enlightenment. The Odyssey transcript is available through the Jewel Heart Store.

VAJRAYOGINI

Following Gelek Rimpoche’s Vajrayogini transcript, facilitators guide meditations and facilitate discussion on all aspects of the Vajrayogini long sadhana. Transcript available through Jewel Heart Store.

This course requires highest yoga tantra Vajrayogini initiation.

WORKSHOP: THE SWIFT PATH (NYUR LAM) ANALYTICAL MEDITATION & REVIEW

SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 10:00am - 3:00pm

With morning and afternoon sessions, this workshop will follow the spiritual map of The Swift Path provided by Gelek Rimpoche on Tuesday evenings at Jewel Heart - with review, guided analytical meditations and discussion.

Open to all and to support understanding and integration of the teaching points offered on the Swift Path teachings by Gelek Rimpoche.

Time: 10 - 12 and 1-3, bring your bag lunch.
Fee: $5 - $20 sliding scale suggested donation at the door.

DHARMA DISCUSSION AND DEBATE

Drawing on the traditional Tibetan Buddhist mode of learning through open debate, Jewel Heart students are invited to join groups of two to five participants to analytically challenge and deepen their relationship with the Dharma. Join us for pizza and discussion!

Join us for our monthly free movie, for concessions and conversation about the film and Dharma.

  Concentration meditation sessions - Help yourself through meditation. Facilitators provide basic guidance with multiple concentration meditation sessions using the breath as the point of focus. Open to all levels of experience.

  White Tara meditation sessions - Tara is the mother goddess of Tibetan Buddhism, known for her quick and compassionate activity. She is particularly associated with healing and long life. Join us for a guided meditation using visualization techniques to overcome physical, mental and emotional suffering.

  Wu Style Tai Chi with Genie Parker of Wu Style Tai Chi Chu'an Academy of Ann Arbor , suggested donation: $5
Learn the ancient art of meditation in motion with this "soft style" martial art emphasizing relaxation and balance.
