Library Appeal!

Please check your closets, desks and briefcases for overdue library materials and return them when you have the chance. We are especially trying to locate the library copies of several movies that have been out for a while: Kundun (VHS), Seven Years in Tibet (VHS), Little Buddha (VHS) and Yogis Of Tibet (DVD).

If you have borrowed these, please check them in so that the folks waiting can see them! Put the returned items in the returns box at Jewel Heart rather than on the shelves.

Also, if you have any books, videos or music dealing with the dharma and/or Tibetan Buddhist culture that you would like to donate to the library, please leave them in the library donations box at the center.

March April 2007 news

Jewel Heart Cleveland is continuing to attract lots of attention around town. Following an article by Chris Glaser in Scene, up to 23 new people attended each of our three introductory Wednesdays in March. These sessions were followed by the beginning of then Deepening Awareness meditation course, and a continuing series of introductory courses will be held over the rest of the year. About 30 people, several of them at the center for the first time, attended the April 1 Sunday
Dharma talk

Barb O’Malley, our librarian who is famous for her baking skills, had to undergo replacement of a failed artificial hip joint in March. Because the procedure required extensive bone grafting, she won’t be able to bear weight on the leg for three months. Our Monday Lam Rim group, of which Barb is a member, have
made her a ‘class project’ and are helping out with visits, food and chores along with other Sangha members. Best wishes for quick healing and strong bones, Barb!

Jayashree Bidari has developed her standup comic talents to the point that she is appearing on Nick-at-Nite’s America's Funniest Mom series which started on Tuesday, April 10 at 9:00 PM, 8 PM central on Nickelodeon channel. Congratulations, and when do we get a performance at the center?

Our March social event was a potluck at the Ralston’s. As usual, the food was fantastic and conversation lively – many of us stayed out much later than our usual bedtimes. On April 29, our Sangha Gathering will be followed by High Tea at the center, with strawberries, clotted cream, gourmet teas, cakes, sandwiches and all the works. It promises to be a lot of fun (and filling – don’t plan on dinner afterwards!).

May all beings have happiness.
May they be free from suffering.
May they find the joy that has never known suffering
May they be free from attachment and hatred.
