GOM Practice Day, Saturday, November 7
Our first GOM practice will offer the opportunity to do a full day of silent concentrated meditation in a peaceful forest setting. Sessions will be 20 minutes long, with silence maintained between sessions. A light vegetarian lunch and dinner will be served. You may meditate on a cushion or a chair; if you plan to sit on the floor, some cushions will be available, or bring your own if you have a favorite. Session leaders will be available to answer questions individually during breaks. This practice day is free and open to all; donations are welcome.

The day will conclude between 8:30 and 9 pm.

Nyur Lam Teaching Weekend November 13, 14 and 15
Gelek Rimpoche will conclude his teachings on Nyur Lam, the Swift Path, over three days of intensive teachings at Jewel Heart Ann Arbor. This weekend is a chance to experience traditional teachings from a Tibetan Buddhist master whose English and understanding of contemporary culture is unrivalled.
For those unable to travel to Ann Arbor, the teachings will be live video broadcast to Jewel Heart Cleveland as well. There is no charge for the teaching.

Je Tsongkhapa Day Tsoh: Tibetan Festival of Lights
This year, Friday December 11 is Je Tsongkhapa day, a time to commemorate the life and teachings of Je Tsongkhapa, founder of our Gelug tradition. The center will be illuminated by more than 100 candle and electric lights offerings, as well as flower and water bowl offerings. We will chant the Lama Chöpa Tsoh in English and with some verse sung in Tibetan; a flyer describing this practice is available for newcomers.
Bring a food offering, such as bread, fruit, cake or cookies. Canned goods will be donated to local charities, while other food will be shared after the ceremony.
All are welcome, children included!

Jewel Heart Sunday talks
Join us for introductory Buddhist-inspired talks on contemporary issues. Free and open to all, these sessions are wonderful for beginners as well as helpful for continuing students, and include guided meditation and time for questions.

Nov. 1 - "Finding the Joy Within" - The increasingly stressful conditions of our interconnected world can drain our personal resources, whether financial, physical, mental or spiritual. Gelek Rimpoche will share how Buddha's tools of compassion and wisdom create the basis for joy and understanding to flourish in our lives, even amid these trying times.

Dec. 6 - From Habit to Opportunity - Sandy Finkel. With mindfulness and awareness we can free ourselves from the robotic nature of habitual negative patterns and rediscover the vital opportunities present in our lives. A live video broadcast.
December 13 - Awakening Our Best Nature - Aura Glaser. Buddha's experience of awakening points us to realizing the wholeness, wisdom and love that is our deepest nature. A live video broadcast.
Concentrated Meditation with Light Guidance
On Sundays when there is a dharma talk (see schedule above), from 9-9:40 am, we will have concentrated sitting meditation, open to beginners and experienced meditators alike. Free and open to all.

Ganden Lha Gyema - begins Thurs. Nov. 5
The Ganden Lha Gyema, one of the most important practices in our tradition, deepens the connection with the enlightened through meditational exercises that enrich inner development on the spiritual path. Grounded in appreciation for our spiritual teacher, this practice uplifts us through familiarity with generosity, respect, purification, rejoicing, and many other beneficial activities. This course also offers instruction on specific visualization practices interwoven with the mantra commonly referred to as Migstema.

We will be alternating Lama Chöpa and Vajrayogini tsohs this year. The Lama Chöpa tsohs are open to everyone, while you must have had a Vajrayogini initiation to attend Vajrayogini tsohs. Bring a food or monetary offering. Please come 15 minutes early to help set up if you can.

Congratulations to students who have recently completed the Odyssey to Freedom class - something for us all to rejoice in! Throughout Sept. and Oct., classes, Sunday talks, and workshops continued in the center, while a number of Clevelanders attended the Labor Day and Fall Retreats.JH Cleveland's silent auction ended in September, having raised nearly $1400 for Jewel Heart.

Many events were held in October to celebrate Rimpoche's 70th birthday! During the fall retreat, an elegant dinner party was served at Garrison Institute, followed by videos of Rimpoche, songs and poems in his honor.
Saturday, Oct. 24 brought a performance of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Path to Enlightenment," by the fantastic Not Yet Ready for Enlightenment Players at a U of M theater.
Sunday afternoon, Oct. 25, Rimpoche and Colleen gave a wine and tea party for Jewel Heart.
On Monday, Oct. 26, Jewel Heart offered Rimpoche a Tenzhuk (Prayers and offerings for the Lama's long life) at Jewel Heart Ann Arbor.
