Cleveland Chapter News
More than 75 Jewel Heart Sangha from Cleveland, Ann Arbor, New York and Chicago gathered at JH Cleveland July 21-22, to hear Gelek Rimpoche teach on the Smooth Path Lam Rim by Panchen Lama Losang Cho Gyi Gyeltsen. Rimpoche kindly covered all the entire teachings as well as giving the oral transmission of the Tibetan text. Somehow, he even left time for us to thank him with the offering of a Lama Chopa Tsoh!
Thubten Chodron's talks in July were well attended and inspiring to all. We welcome her continued connection with Jewel Heart, and wish her success in all her Dharma activities. Our 6th Annual Silent Auction fundraiser was a great success, raising about $2000 for Jewel Heart! Many thanks to those who donated the wonderful items as well as those who bid on them.
At the Jewel Heart Summer Retreat, Gelek Rimpoche warmly thanked all Sangha council officers whose 2-year terms had expired, and appointed new officers for all chapters. Our new Sangha Council Chair is Sarah Ralston. A list of other officers is available at the center. Watch for news about our next Sangha Gathering in coming newsletters.
Fill out a volunteer form at the center if you would like to help Jewel Heart by giving ofyour time. Even an hour a month can help. Its a great way to give back to the center, accumulate mucho merit, and meet other sangha members.
Many Sangha members are dealing with severe health problems, or have recently lost family members, friends or beloved pets. We ask you to remember them, and all who are undergoing such sufferings, in your prayers and dedications.
