Relics visit
– Cleveland JH was fortunate to have the opportunity to sponsor
the Heart Shrine Relics Tour. Cleveland donations to the relics
totaled more than $2500. Many, many thanks to all those whose hard
work made the relics visit such a blessing for all! For those attending
the event was described by some as “magical”, “a
direct experience of the sacred”, “mindboggling”,
“words could not express such an experience” and to
some, the ability to “experience the actual presence of enlightened
beings”. Truly, the tathagatas smiled on Cleveland for a moment
in time. The potluck at the Ralston’s as usual included lots
of good food and a stimulating discussion of road rage. The Tibetan
rug sale scheduled for October has been cancelled due to the fall
retreat. Look for Ujjen to return next year for the Hessler Street
Fair! In the Debate Workshop, Aug. 30, Dr. Dennis McDermot gave
a group of Clevelanders a new appreciation of Tibetan logic and
debate – we concluded that being in a debate is sort of like
playing blindfolded chess! |

Making Friends with Yourself and your Hips
Hip openers are an opportunity for transforming habitual patterns
of aggression toward ourselves. Just like you don¹t like to
be pushed or pulled before you are ready, neither do your hips.
As we learn to relax and trust the flowing stillness and tiny openings
of hip openers we observe how that creates space in our minds and
hearts, too.
Saturday, November 1
3:00pm - 5:00pm
Extra Juicy Vinyasa, OM yoga-style ntermediate/Advanced Vinyasa
Class
A hot, juicy OM yoga vinyasa class in which all parts of the body
work in harmony with the breath and mind. Experiencing asanas and
transitions with equal attention helps us experience the rich, freshness
of every moment. Come ready to sweat and have fun!

Dharma Talk/book signing
~Teachings from the Buddha~ A light snack and beverages will be
provided.
Sunday, November 2
9:00am - 12:00pm
Cultivating Bodhicitta and Backbending
Applying bodhicitta or awakened heart to our practice of backbending
helps us liberate our bodies, as well as pre-conceived notions of
what we can and can't do. Instead of armoring up for scary situations,
this oving-kindness practice gives us the true warrior's weapons
of gentleness and non-aggression as we explore advanced backbends
-sirsasana, dropbacks, kapotasana and more -- within a vinyasa class.
We will end with a guided meditation to cultivate compassion for
all beings.

Ann
Arbor News
The Joyful Jewel
Heart summer retreat was held this August at the new setting of
Albion College Michigan which provided comfortable facilities and
unique food items like deep-fried macaroni and cheese triangles!
(But also a good salad bar). Rimpoche’s teachings on the nature
of the mind were intense, demanding and rewarding and the discussion
groups were quite lively. Afternoon presentations, a skit, White
Tara initiation, and a concluding smoke puja provided changes of
pace. A very moving Lama Chopa Tsoh, with a small mountain of offerings,
was held Thursday evening to welcome the Heart Shrine Relics to
the retreat.
Broadcast teachings.
Due to Rimpoche’s needing to be with HH the Dalai Lama a number
of Sept teachings have been cancelled, but the regular schedule
will resume soon. Both Ann Arbor and New York teachings now begin
at 7 instead of 7:30. Check the website under Rimpoche Live for
details. |
