Become a Jewel Heart Member

Importance of Jewel Heart Membership:

Jewel Heart, like all not-for-profit organizations, requires a sustainable financial base. Currently one fourth of Jewel Heart’s budget comes from membership fees. These membership contributions along with income from other sources such as general donations, retreat and workshop tuition, benefits, etc. support the basic operating expenses of the organization.

We are reaching out to those who are interested in preserving Tibetan culture as well as those who wish to practice it to ask them to join as members. Gelek Rimpoche would like to see the membership grow to the point where the organization is completely supported by membership fees, allowing us to present the teachings in our centers free of charge to all who wish to attend.

In order to further that goal we are asking members and potential members to consider joining at the level of $40 per month ($480 per year). You can join at any level you feel comfortable with, and certainly all contributions of any size are welcome and useful, but Rimpoche has suggested this amount.

Jewel Heart Members enjoy the following Benefits:

  • Jewel Heart Study Program classes at no charge
  • Discounts on select workshops & retreats

Message from Philip Glass

It is important now that we take a moment to reflect upon the role of the Three Precious Jewels.

We, as members of Jewel Heart are, in fact, part of the Sangha, the third, but not least of the Three Precious Jewels. As such it is most important for us to understand and appreciate the role of the Sangha in the Buddhist tradition. Like the power of the Lineage, the power of the Sangha has been essential in sustaining and preserving a Buddhist view in the world today. Furthermore, the strength of the Sangha is a result of the collective commitment of the individuals who make up it’s membership. One can say that through this collective commitment the Sangha has been able to provide refuge and protection for it’s members. In this way the Buddha has fashioned the third part of the Three Precious Jewels which has, no doubt, been so important in insuring that his teachings would spread and flourish throughout the ages.

As members of The Jewel Heart community and because of our connection through Gelek Rimpoche’s Lineage, we share a real and authentic connection with the larger Buddhist Sangha.

This is both a blessing and a responsibility.

Donate / Support

Our members and friends share Jewel Heart’s mission to preserve Tibetan culture and the lineage teachings of Tibetan Buddhism in an authentic and accessible way. Donations to Jewel Heart support Gelek Rimpoche’s worldwide teaching activities and outreach programs to the Tibetan community in North America and Tibet. At the same time a new generation of qualified Western Buddhist teachers is being trained to continue this living tradition of spiritual development.
Jewel Heart provides the opportunity to people from all walks of life to encounter this ancient tradition in a profoundly personal way through attending courses with Gelek Rimpoche or visiting spiritual masters.

To further make use of the benefit of those teachings and lectures, Jewel Heart has recorded and transcribed much of the presented material. In an ongoing project those recordings and transcripts are being archived and published. Many of them are available to the general public on this website.

Under the direction of Gelek Rimpoche a unique program of study and practice has been developed for those wishing to study Tibetan Buddhism in a systematic and in depth manner.

In addition to this ongoing activity, Jewel Heart maintains special funds for the following projects:

  • Rimpoche’s Collected Works: Publishing and Archiving
  • Rimpoche’s Puja Fund
  • Nyagre Khamtsen Monastery
  • Jatson Chumig School
  • Scholarship Fund
  • Operating Reserve/Mortgage Reduction
