The Prayer for the Flourishing of Je Tsongkhapa’s Teaching, composed by Gungthang Tenpai Drönme (1762 – 1823), is a popular prayer often recited as a dedication after teachings. Demo Rinpoche will teach on the basis of this prayer, which highlights how the unique qualities of Je Tsongkhapa’s teachings can aid the spiritual development of practitioners.

In collaboration with Tricycle Magazine

Tuesday, March 26, 2019
7:00pm – 8:30pm

Jewel Heart New York
260 West Broadway
New York, New York 10013

Tibetan Buddhism was shaped by Tibet’s commitment to authentically preserve and transmit Buddha’s complete path to enlightenment through wisdom and compassion. Join Demo Rinpoche in this public talk introducing the unique methods and insight Tibetan Buddhism offers our world today.

In this evening session, Demo Rinpoche will introduce the Tibetan Buddhist approach to mindful meditation which includes both concentration (jo gom) and analytic (che gom) meditation. These approaches rely on focus, analysis and visualization techniques to help individuals realize their true potential.

Demo Rinpoche went to Drepung Loseling Monastery in Mundgod at the age of five and officially joined the monastery in 1987, where he spent nearly thirty years of uninterrupted education in meditation, debate, memorization, philosophy, and composition under the Dalai Lama’s direct supervision. After completing his studies at Drepung, Rinpoche received the highest monastic degree of Geshe Lharampa from Gelugpa University in India in 2011. He continued his studies at Gyume Tantric College and was a visiting scholar under the auspices of the Dalai Lama at Sera College of Higher Tibetan Studies in Dharamsala. At the request of Gelek Rimpoche, Demo Rinpoche came to the United States where he received his Master’s Degree in Inter-Religious Engagement from Union Theological Seminary in New York City in 2018. Currently based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan, he serves as the Resident Spiritual Advisor at Jewel Heart.
