All are welcome to this informal evening with Jewel Heart Dharma instructors, which will include an introduction to Gelek Rimpoche and Jewel Heart. We will go over the various courses, programs, workshops, retreats and online teachings available through Jewel Heart and will leave plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Geshe Thapke will continue his wisdom teachings. Geshe-la is a wonderful teacher, ‘one of the best geshes available,’ according to Gelek Rimpoche.

Concentrated meditation practice day
Date, time: Sunday, October 16, 10 am-1 pm and 2-5 pm
All are welcome to attend this practice day, based on Rimpoche’s courses Creating Space and GOM. You are welcome to come for all or part of the day. A brief guided meditation will be given at 10 am and at 2 pm. Sessions will last 20-25 minutes. Breaks and lunch will be taken in silence. Please try to arrive either on the hour or half-hour to minimize distraction. Both cushions and chairs will be available.

CANCELLED – Gateway to the Spiritual Path
Tuesdays, beginning October 25, 7-8:30 pm
Do I want or need a spiritual path? What kind? What are the main principles of the path taught by Buddha? These are questioned raised and discussed in this 8 session class based on the Gateway transcript by Gelek Rimpoche. All are welcome.

Class fee: Free for Jewel Heart members, $80 for non-members – but if you cannot afford this, please come anyway and discuss a full or partial scholarship with the instructor.
Creating Space: Clarity and Insight Through Meditation
Dates: 4 Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm, beginning Sept. 15
Meditation provides us with a clear stable mind, necessary for a happy life and the foundation
for deepening our spiritual journey. This course offers hands-on experience with the basic elements of meditation using breath,
posture and techniques for coping with the distraction and laxity of the mind.

SEM: Nature of Mind
Dates: 8 Tuesdays from 11:30am-1 pm beginning Sept. 27 note special time
Compiled from teachings on the nature of the mind, this course address the relationship between energy and mind, the mind’s capacity for liberation and wisdom and continuity of consciousness as well as highlighting the mind as object of concentrated meditation. Gelek Rimpoche’s transcript SEM is used as course material.
