Gelek Rimpoche continues his teachings on Je Tsongkhapa’s shortest Lamrim, the Songs of Experience. Open to all.

Monday, June 6, 7:00-8:30 pm: “Three Kinds of Compassion”
Tuesday, June 7, 7:00-8:30 pm: “King of Reasoning-Dependant Arising”
Thubten Chodron, founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey, and author of many wonderful books will teach at Jewel Heart Cleveland two evenings in May. She is a skilled and knowledgeable teacher with a sense of humor and insight into our lives as American students of Buddhism.
Suggested donation is $20 per evening, but please come even if you cannot afford this and give what you can.

Jewel Heart Study Courses

The Healing Practice of White Tara
Dates: 4 Sundays, beginning June 5
Time: 11:30 am -1:00 pm
Tara is the mother goddess of Tibetan Buddhism, known for her quick and compassionate activity. She is particularly associated with healing and long life.
This course uses visualization techniques relying on the feminine energy of White Tara to overcome physical, mental and emotional suffering.
Class leader: Dawn Wegenek
Cost: $40. Free for Jewel Heart members. Please come even if you cannot afford this and give what you can to help support Jewel Heart and Gelek Rimpoche’s teachings

Vajrayogini Practice and Discussion

Dates: Wednesdays, beginning April 20
Time: 7:00-8:30 pm
In this class we will practice and discuss the Vajrayogini daily practice for those who have the Vajrayana initiation.

Cost: $60. Free to Jewel Heart members.

Odyssey to Freedom class (continuing)

Concentrated Meditation Evenings
Time: 7-8:30 pm every Thursday NO MEDITATION MAY 12 OR 19
These free meditation sessions are open to all, and include time for questions and discussion from 7-7:30 followed by two 25 minute meditation practice sessions.
Beginners are welcome, as are those who are working on the GOM stages.

Tsoh Offerings
All are welcome to attend these offering ceremonies. We will do the Lama Chopa tsoh, an offering to all enlightened beings, reading the practice mostly in English translation. The ceremony takes about an hour. Please bring a food or money offering.
Thursday, May 26 6-7 pm.
Wednesday, June 15 set up at 7 pm, tsoh 7:30-8:30 pm. This is Sakadawa, the day Tibetans commemorate Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and parinirvana.
Sunday, June 26 12:30-1:30 pm.

Cleveland Jewel Heart Picnic
Welcome summer with your Jewel Heart friends at our annual picnic at Bill and Susie Kirchner’s house.
Hot dogs and veggie burgers will be provided, you should bring a side dish or dessert, musical instruments are always welcome.

Science and Dharma: Towards a Synthesis with Dr. Richard J Davidson

Description. This talk will review the short history of the development of contemplative neuroscience as a hybrid discipline. It will showcase important new findings as well as methodological strategies in the study of meditation. The talk will also highlight the important role of contemplative practice on the part of the scientists who are conducting this research and will invite the audience to consider the complementary goals of each. A Personal Journey – Meditation and Medical Practice in the East and West with Ven. Barry Kerzin (M.D.)

Description: Dr. Barry Kerzin (Tenzin Choerab) is a Buddhist monk, teacher, and medical doctor. Completing short and long meditation retreats over the last 27 years, Dr. Kerzin has played an important role, along with other long-time meditation practitioners, in the seminal research conducted by Drs. Richard J Davidson and Jonathan Cohen on the structure and function of the brain and mind through neuroscience

accordingly.

We have a limited number of serving spoons etc so if your dish requires special utensils for serving,
please bring them.
