Northern Michigan Programs July – Dec 2011
Odyssey to Freedom
Tuesday evenings, beginning July 19, 2011
6:30 – 8:00 pm
6-week course
Gelek Rimpoche created the Odyssey to Freedom as a concise and complete introduction to the stages of the spiritual path from wherever you are right now to full enlightenment. The full curriculum consists of 6 Sections, and this course will be covering Section 6, Engaging Compassion and Wisdom. Sections 1 thru 5 will be open for discussion during the first meeting, as well as reviewing pages 356-388 of Odyssey to Freedom.
The course material consists of 1 book by Gehlek Rimpoche. Attendees are encouraged to purchase this “Odyssey to Freedom” book, which covers all 6 Sections (approx. 500 pages); cost is $17.99. (book available for purchase at first meeting)
Each class begins with a short, videotaped teaching on the evening’s topic by Gelek Rimpoche. An overview of the current topic, discussion and question/answer period follows, led by a facilitator. This course is an ideal introduction to Tibetan Buddhism.
Open to both new and continuing students.
Location: 109 Water Street, Boyne City (2 doors down from Red Mesa); enter at side of building along brick walkway. (Please note, unfortunately, only stair access to 2nd floor.)
Course fee: $60 for Section 6, which has 6 meeting dates.
Free to Jewel Heart members and above.
To register, please email: [email protected].
(Due to all of our busy schedules, part time attendance is an optional.)
Jewel Heart Northern Michigan offers its courses to all, regardless of ability to pay. If you are unable to afford any course fee, please speak
to your instructor/facilitator about the possibility of a partial or full scholarship.
