Geshe Yeshe Thabkhe to teach in Ann Arbor, live broadcast in Cleveland

Geshe Yeshe Thabkhe will teach Aryadeva’s Four Hundred Stanzas on the Middle Way, a poetic work that focuses on the development of merit, how to overcome disturbing emotions, and on understanding the nature of ultimate reality.
Geshe Yeshe Thabkhe is currently a professor of Mool Shastra (Indian Tradition of Buddhist Philosophy) at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, the only Tibetan university in India, and is regarded as one of the most eminent scholars of both the Madhyamaka tradition and Indian Buddhist studies. As one of the greatest learned scholars of Drepung Loseling Monastery, he facilitated the completion of numerous research works, including a complete translation of Lama Tsongkhapa’s ‘Lam rim chen mo’ or ‘Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment’.

Broadcast class: ODYSSEY TO FREEDOM – Section 1
Gelek Rimpoche created Odyssey to Freedom as an accessible and concise guide to all the stages on the spiritual path from our current situation, as it is, through to full enlightenment. This course follows Gelek Rimpoche’s transcript, Odyssey to Freedom, available for purchase as a paperback through the Jewel Heart Store at 734 994 3385 or [email protected], or in digital format through the Jewel Heart website at www.jewelheart.org/transcripts/. This class is open to all.

As an experiment, we will air these broadcasts at JH Cleveland for those who would like to take this class in a group format. It will also be available to individual webcast subscribers.
Perfection of Wisdom Mantra to begin in November
In this class we will read and discuss Gelek Rimpoche’s transcript on the mantra of the Heart Sutra, which introduces the five paths.
Prerequisite: Odyssey to Freedom or Three Principles

Calling all Artists, Craftspeople, Makers of all sorts
Planning is getting underway for our Holiday sale of art, fine crafts and locally made products. The sale will run from mid-November through the December Artwalk. Participants are welcome to sell single items, or to have bigger displays. Please contact Anne (aewarren at sbcglobal.net) for more information or to reserve space.
Volunteers are also needed to help plan our Holiday Open House which will be on the second Friday of December, to correspond with the Tremont Art Walk.

Silent Auction Fundraiser a success!
Our recently concluded Silent Auction Fundraiser brought in over $1800 to help support our Cleveland center. Many thanks to those who donated items, helped set up the auction, and especially all the bidders.
2013 Jewel Heart Fall Retreat

Tibetan Buddhist master Gelek Rimpoche uniquely shares his deep understanding of the profound and vast tradition of Tibetan Buddhism to spiritual seekers world-wide. Beloved within the Tibetan community, Gelek Rimpoche has dedicated his life to making Buddha’s ancient methods for peace, compassion and wisdom accessible to anyone interested in making a positive change to their lives.
We warmly invite you to join Gelek Rimpoche for his annual fall gathering at the Garrison Institute.
This weekend is open to all, with no previous background necessary; those who are new are especially welcome.
Final registration/check-in on Friday, October 11 is from 3 – 6:30pm, dinner is 6 – 7pm, and the retreat commences after dinner. The retreat closes following lunch on Monday, October 14.
