This weeklong retreat features twice daily video teachings by Kyabje Gelek Rimpoche on Je Tsong Khapa’s “Foundation of All Perfections” – a guide to the path that helps us to overcome obstacles as well as develop joy and understanding as we progress along our spiritual journey.
The program also includes daily guided White Tara morning practice sessions, guided analytical meditations on the Foundation verses, interactive panel discussions, and Dharma talks by Demo Rinpoche, Dr. Joseph Loizzo and Jewel Heart Instructors Anne Warren and Dr. Anthony King. The Joyful Paradise room will be available for participants for practice and study throughout the retreat. Senior students will also be available to answer practice questions.
Jewel Heart Executive Directors will share a Jewel Heart update at the retreat; an afternoon session will be dedicated to sharing remembrances of Gelek Rimpoche; and Dr. Bento Soares will talk about Geshe Lobsang Tenzin Negi’s CBCT Foundation Course which will be held at Jewel Heart Ann Arbor November 3 – 5, 2017.
Optional evening sessions include a Sunday writing workshop focused on memoir techniques to assist those considering sharing a vignette, poem or reflection of Rimpoche during the retreat or how an aspect of the dharma has unfolded in life. On Monday evening, a Saikoku Sanjusansho film, talk, Q & A by Lisa Malloy, a Cornell University recipient of an endowment set up in Gelek Rimpoche’s name. There will also be a Jewel Heart Talent Night on Thursday and we anticipate Friday evening offerings of ever hilarious Jewel Heart Skits.
