THREE PRINCIPLES OF THE PATH 1995 CLEVELAND

In this session, you will be listening to an unedited audio recording of teachings given by Gelek Rimpoche on June 3, 1995 at Jewel Heart Cleveland.

Gelek Rimpoche briefly reviews the Three Principles of the Path during this single session, noting that Aura Glaser introduced the three principles to the group the day before.

Discussing the first principle, Rimpoche reminds us that the idea of freedom from suffering requires us to first look deeply within, to see our relationship with our negative emotions and to consistently choose not to be overtaken by negative emotions.

Reinforcing the importance of genuinely loving ourselves and genuinely having compassion for our suffering in order to expand that same care to others, Rimpoche advises we begin slowly and care-fully. He gives rich and at times humorous examples of how to rely on love and compassion wisely, particularly citing the six perfections of generosity, morality, patience, enthusiasm, concentration and wisdom. Rimpoche reminds us to not be surprised at the obstacles that rise and to continue to honor the wisdom, concentration, enthusiasm, patience, morality and generosity within each of the individual perfections as we conduct our lives, day by day.

This single session is approximately one and one half hour in length.
